My name is Stacy Manning. I adopted my girls 13 years ago. Every single day on my Facebook page people tell me that not only is it difficult for them to have a night out, it is difficult for them to leave at all. They are dealing with kids who struggle with loss and abandonment and now they are not taking any time for themselves!
We have an incredibly hard job. I know. I have 6 kids who were all between the ages of 3 and 6 years old when we adopted. I was a tired Momma! They all needed me all of the time. Taking the smallest break really created a lot of anxiety for them, which often led to behavioral fall-out! Reality is that it wasn't just when we wanted a night out that it was hard. It was hard when we wanted to leave them in the nursery at church or when they had to go to school. It was hard for them to stay in their rooms by themselves at bedtime or with Grandma when I had to grocery shop. I just wanted to have a little room to breathe!
We've gotten to the other side of that now, but I want you to know I did have frustrations along the way, just like you. Many times it just didn't seem worth it. I wanted to do the right thing by my kids. I was SO tired. I was struggling in the exact same way.
A break without a huge cost to you or your child IS possible!
I want to help you to know how to stay connected, be able to take time for yourself and not worry your child will suffer fear and anxiety every time you are apart! It is important that we take care of ourselves! A No Matter What commitment takes a strong, rested parent!
