I Was Thinking...
As parents of survivors...we need to be strong! Strong in our vision of who we are! Strong in our vision of a positive present and future! Strong in our vision of the goodness of a child's heart! Strong in our belief in our power to be a healing force! Strong enough to ask for help, Strong enough to do what it takes, Strong enough to get back up when we fall, Strong enough to be a parent of a survivor.... NO MATTER WHAT!

I Was Thinking...
I just want to yell from the mountain tops...... build your child a net; he can't change until you do!! Come on you can do it. Don't stay stuck! Grab hold, pull yourself up, figure it out. Do what it takes. We will walk next to you...together we can make change! Things can be so much better! I Was Thinking...
If only we could convince our kids that we can and will keep them safe no matter what…CHANGE could then happen! But how? How after all they’ve been through, after all of the adults that have let them down, after all the beliefs they have created and come to rely on? There IS a way…..Intentionally build them a SAFETY NET! Recreate the assurance of survival, lost. Become the assurance of survival. Prove to them you are theirs no matter what, no matter how difficult, no matter how long it takes! Discern and provide for their needs Hold boundaries Be consistent Stay emotionally connected Honor their past Understand their deficits -Have HOPE- -Share Your HOPE- -Give HOPE- |
