Ready, Set, GO!

Slow and steady wins the race.

I have to tell you, that’s not how I operate. I’m a visionary. When I set my sights on something, I jump in 100%. I’m a GO FOR IT kinda gal. I take leaps and want to go full steam ahead. Not letting anything or anyone get in my way.

Sixteen years ago, when my daughters joined our family, I discovered that doesn’t always work. Just because I wanted to get them to securely attached quickly did not mean I could make it happen. They could only go as fast as they could go, not as fast as I wanted them to go. 

The reality is they came with some deep wounds, profound grief, and fear. It was going to take time. A whole lot of time.

So I kept at it. I hung in there and remained steady. Constant. Until they felt truly safe. And when they did, they were ready to take some leaps. And with that steady, constant care, came SECURE ATTACHMENT. That’s when they really blossomed. That’s when we ALL won the race!
